Tired of the organic marketing grind?
Hey Bo here.
If you were to look at my social media
profiles as of the time of this recording,
you would see that I haven't posted on
my social media accounts in many months.
I think maybe I've posted three or
four times this entire year, and it's
June as of the time of this recording.
And if you were to look at
that, maybe from the outside
looking in, you would think that.
Maybe my business is dead.
Maybe I just stopped.
I quit.
I went back to a nine to five job.
I quit this whole entrepreneurship
thing, and that's sort of what it
looks like if you just, if you just
look at my social media profiles.
But the, the truth, the
reality is far different.
Than what it might appear.
In fact, my business has prospered
this year more than any other year.
I'm gonna look at the numbers real
quick just to give you like exact
figures, but my business this year, as
of, um, 2025, it is June 7th right now.
So approximately the past five
months, my business has, uh,
generated 5,802 customers.
Or total orders, total sales,
and $588,687 in revenue.
Um, and that's just in the
first five months of this year.
And if you looked at my social
media profiles, you would not think
that at all because I don't even
have that many followers on, I.
On some of my social media
accounts, I have like 15,000
on Instagram or something.
I, I do have like over a hundred
thousand on TikTok and a few thousand
on YouTube, but I don't really
post on most of those platforms.
Um, and, and lately I
haven't posted at all.
And so social media, like
organic social media is not.
The main driver of my sales, as
you might have guessed, and I wanna
talk about this method of growing
your business because this is
something I've been doing since 2020.
I've been doing it very successfully, and
I find that it is so much, so much better.
I can't even begin to describe the
benefits of doing it this way, you
don't have to work nearly as hard.
You don't have to work
nearly as many hours.
You don't have to be a
slave to social media.
You don't have to post constantly
on social media and keep up with
the algorithms and chase views
and be desperate for leads and
customers and not know where your
next client's gonna come from.
You don't have to deal
with any of that shit.
And you know, trust me, I know what
it's like because for the first many
years of running my business, I did
things almost entirely organically, just
posting blog posts and YouTube videos I.
And it felt like a hamster wheel
that I could never get off of.
You know, like if I stopped posting
content, my leads would dry up,
my sales would dry up, and I would
have to catch up the next time.
I finally came back online
after recovering from burnout,
which happened very often.
And I find a lot of creators go
through that when they're doing
the organic marketing thing.
As they go through a lot
of periods of burnout.
They might be able to post every day for
a while, but eventually they burn out.
They start feeling frustrated.
They're, they feel like they're on a
hamster wheel because kind of you are
on a hamster wheel if you stop posting.
What's gonna happen, probably
your business is gonna die.
It's gonna dry up.
All, all the sales and leads are
gonna dry up, and then you're
gonna have to keep posting again.
So, um, I just find that it's not the
best way to do things, at least for me.
I know some people make organic
marketing work and I think organic
marketing is a great long-term strategy.
I'm not saying you shouldn't do it.
I think it is great for the long term
and over time it can really compound.
And eventually organic marketing
can be like your main thing and your
main source of leads and revenue.
However, that might take a long time.
That might take many years.
For most people, it does take many
years to get to the point where they
have enough momentum where the organic
can really be the main source of their.
Uh, revenue and their business growth.
But if you're not there yet, if
you don't have a huge social media
following and you're not getting
thousands and thousands and thousands
of views on every single thing you
post online, then I want to invite
you to consider a different approach.
And I want to.
Really encourage you to master the game of
paid advertising because I think this is
the big breakthrough for a lot of people.
It's the thing that changes the game
more than anything is when someone
can figure out how to use their money
instead of their time in order to
grow their business, and you don't
need a lot of money to make this work.
Like when I first started
running ads back in 2020, um, I
think it was 2020 or late 2019.
I started with just like, I, I
think like five or $10, five or $10
a day in ads, and I think that was
probably all I could afford back then.
That's all I had, you know, I, I
couldn't risk any more than that.
But what happens is when you start
running ads, if you do it the
right way, you put that $10 in or
whatever, and you make $20 back.
Now you have 20 to put back into ads,
you know, so then you put the 20 in,
then you get maybe 40 back, 50 back, and
you just keep reinvesting the profits.
So you're not really risking your money.
As long as you know how to get that money
back within a reasonable period of time.
Ideally the same day, like you
put 20 in and then you make a
sale of your, say, $30 product.
Let's say, say you have a $30 product,
you spend $20 on ads, you make a
sale that same day from those ads,
so now you got 30 and then you put
30 in, maybe you get another sale.
Or two, you know?
And as long as you're profitable, at
least a little bit profitable, then you
just keep reinvesting the money and you
keep scaling that up gradually, and then
you optimize things and increase your
average order value, add other backend
products to increase the return on your
investment and everything, you know,
so like you can get to a point where
you're putting a dollar in and you're
getting $3 back, $5 back, you know?
So.
It's really a game changer because it
allows you to scale rapidly, whereas
organic marketing, it's not really
in in your control how fast you grow.
I mean, yes, some people, they know how
to go viral and stuff, but that doesn't,
that doesn't always translate to sales.
It doesn't always translate to
money in your bank account just
because you can get a lot of
views on a, on a piece of content.
Um, so you can play that whole game if you
want chasing views, trying to go viral.
It's not a game that I really want
to play, and I don't think many
people enjoy playing that game.
And so.
Organic marketing is more of a
long-term play, is how I see it.
It's like a long-term branding thing,
and it, it's also important for like
trust building and staying top of
mind and um, maybe just adding like
long-term stability to your business.
I think it is still important to have an
organic marketing strategy, but I don't
think it is the, I mean, it's definitely
not the fastest way to grow your business.
Definitely not.
There are many other ways that are
much faster than organic marketing.
Paid advertising is one of those ways.
And I just think like there's so many
people out there that don't, they don't
know how to run paid ads successfully.
And so they are teaching other people to
do organic marketing and it's kind of,
it's unfortunate because most people are
not going to go viral on social media.
I mean, if you just look at
it statistically on average,
like the average person.
Does not know how to go
viral on social media.
for whatever reason, maybe it's not their
skills, maybe it's not a lack of skill,
but maybe it's just like their niche,
the niche they're in is just not really
conducive to that type of viral growth.
You know?
So the topic or whatever they're
talking about maybe doesn't have
as much potential to go viral.
And so people end up like selling their
soul for the social media algorithm and
then they have to like talk about stuff.
They don't necessarily want to
talk about it and use all these.
Tactics and gimmicks and stuff to
get views and it doesn't really feel
aligned and people end up thinking
they have to do it that way though.
And I know I believed that at one point
I'm like, I just have to do it this way.
I thought that was the only way to do it.
I'm like, I just have to
post content all the time.
That's, that's how you grow your business.
Right?
But I started to question, at
some point, I started to question
why do I believe that this is
the only way to grow my business?
Why do I believe that?
Because I know there's other people
out there doing it differently, so why
can't I do it like they're doing it?
And the truth is you can.
You can do it.
If you see somebody else growing
their business with paid ads and they
don't do organic marketing, then why
do you think you can't do that too?
You know, I think sometimes we just get
stuck in these limiting beliefs and we
think there's only one right way to do
things, when in fact there's many ways to
do things and you just have to figure out
the one that fits your personality best.
Some people, maybe they love posting on
social media and they love being the.
Social media guru or celebrity, and
they like going viral and making
viral content and that's fun for them.
If so, great.
You know, make that your thing.
Just try to go viral on social media
all the time and that can work.
I know people that that works for.
I just didn't feel like that was the
right fit for me, and I prefer a much more
like laid back kind of business where I
don't have to post content all the time.
I can take a lot of time off and
that's what I've done this year.
I've taken more time off this
year than I have and, and.
most previous years, I
think, if not all of them.
I was sick in the beginning of the year.
I had bronchitis, so I couldn't
really work for a while.
I had like a lung infection and that.
Took, took me out.
Really, I couldn't, I couldn't
do much for a while, for a
couple months because of that.
And then I also had a lot of other
stuff going on, family stuff.
I was traveling to see my family
and, uh, we're in the process
of moving to a new house.
So I've just had a lot going on and I
haven't really prioritized work that much.
And it hasn't really
affected me negatively.
Whereas in the past, if I took a lot of
time off, it would affect me negatively.
The sales and leads would dry
up, and I'd have to hustle to get
back on top of things, you know?
But because I run my business primarily
using paid advertising, now I have
leads and sales coming in every single
day, like dozens of customers every
single day coming into my business and.
That allows me to basically
just go at my own pace.
You know, I don't have to do
anything, like I have ads that are
just running 24 7 in the background.
I posted them months ago and they
continue to generate sales for
me every single day, even though
I did that work many months ago.
I haven't posted new ads in quite a while.
I just let them run and they continue to
be profitable every single day, and so
I can now have like this empty calendar
and all this space in my life that I
really value and appreciate, and it just
allows me to take things more slowly.
Like I have other things I'm working
on, but I'm not in such a rush.
also another thing when you are, when
you're having to post content all
the time to generate leads in sales.
That would be okay if it wasn't for
the fact that you also have to be doing
the other things in your business.
You know, like if you're doing
a, a product launch, for example,
that's gonna take a lot of your
time and energy creating a product.
Or if you have coaching clients or
clients that you have to do done for
you services or whatever for, you have
these clients that you have to serve
and you have to sell your product.
You have to create your product, you have
to create the marketing for your product.
You have to do all of those other things
on top of creating content all the time.
And so that can get to be a lot.
And so it's not that there's anything
wrong with like growing organically.
I just think that most entrepreneurs,
especially if you don't have a team
and you're kind of doing things solo,
then you can't really afford to spread
to your attention and your energy
that thin because there's just too
many other things that you have to do.
And so I prefer like using
paid ads to grow, like paid
ads, uh, to generate leads.
basically automated lead generation
so that I don't have to post so much
content, so I don't have to consume a
lot of my energy and time doing that.
So then I have all this extra time
now that I can focus on doing a
product launch or creating the next
product that I want to sell, you know?
it's just like you have to find ways
to get leverage in your business.
You have to find ways to automate things
because you cannot be doing it all.
Like, automate your lead gen,
automate your sales as much as
possible, automate or, uh, delegate
or just find ways to add leverage so
that you can get more out of less.
So paid advertising is one great
example of, of leverage because
instead of like, normally you would
have to post a piece of content, maybe
you post like a short form piece of
content every day on social media.
That's what a lot of people do.
That's what I did for a
while, and that works.
But the thing is you have to constantly
create new pieces of content to
keep the machine running, you know?
And so you might have to
create, I don't know, a piece
of content every day, let's say.
But if you're doing paid ads, it's very,
very different because you could post
instead of a piece of content every day.
You could just post one
piece of content a month.
And instead of posting new content
to get more views, you simply put
more money behind that one piece of
content just get more and more people
to see that one piece of content.
Like instead of having 30 pieces of
content that get a thousand views
each, let's say this, this hypothetical
situation, let's say, you know, that's
30,000 views throughout the month.
Why not just post one piece of content
and then just try to get 30,000 people
to see that one piece of content
instead of getting it spread across
30 different pieces of content?
You know what I mean?
So you can focus more on quality.
Rather than quantity.
Instead of making 30 pieces of content,
just make one really good piece of
content that you can then turn into an ad
and then run that, and then just get as
many people as possible to see that one.
Ad, you know, so it allows
you to post a lot less often.
You can focus more on quality, so
you can put more time and attention
into the, the piece of content and
you feel more proud of what you
create if you put more time into it.
Whereas if you're posting every
single day, you might not have
time to make every piece of content
you create really, really good.
And so you might not be that proud
of everything you're creating
because you're just trying to create
as fast as possible, you know?
So I think that's another benefit, is
like you can, you have a lot more time
and space to create so you can create,
things you're more proud of, you know?
and so you can post way less, you get
way more out of the effort and time
that you're putting in, you get a
way higher return on your investment.
And so I just think there's so
many benefits and I haven't even,
I've barely scratched the surface.
Um, but it's just how
I prefer to do things.
I don't know.
I'm a pretty laid back,
low-key kind of guy.
I don't like to be posted on
social media all the time.
I like to minimize my social media usage.
I like to have an empty calendar.
I don't like, uh, to have a
team that I have to manage.
I don't like meetings.
I don't like big.
Uh, live product launches
and stuff like that.
I don't like doing one-on-one
coaching or done-for-you services
or anything like that either.
I like having a completely open
calendar and, and space to create.
And running my business this way using
paid advertising has given me that it's
given me the business that I really
want, the business that I worked a
long time to figure out how to build.
You know, like I started this whole
online marketing thing, um, in 2013.
So I've been in the game for quite a while
and I've learned a lot over the years.
And I can truly, honestly say like the
game changer for me was learning how to
run paid ads and how to make that work.
When I finally cracked the, the
code of paid advertising and using
paid ads to grow in 2020, that's
when everything changed for me.
That's when business became a lot easier,
and I finally like overcame my financial
struggles and got out of the living
paycheck to paycheck thing and always
hustling for the next client or customer.
I finally got out of like
scarcity mode, you know, and
I had room to breathe finally.
And so I'm a big proponent,
as you might see, as you might
hear uh, of paid advertising.
And I definitely, I definitely
think it's worth, I.
Figuring out how to make it work
and, relying less on organic
marketing to grow your business.
Looking at organic marketing as more
of a long-term branding strategy.
A lot of people like to get
in this argument of like,
what's better organic or paid.
It's, it's not a game of either or.
It's a game of both.
You need both.
It's not like, should I do
paid ads or organic marketing?
It's.
Which one should you put more of
your attention on, depending on
where you're at on your journey.
It's not that you should only do one.
It's like, yeah, you need both, but
you should probably put more time
and attention on paid if you're, if
you haven't figured that out yet,
because that's the way that you can
actually grow quickly and control
how fast you grow your business.
With.
With organic, it's much less predictable
if you're trying to use organic as
a, as a method for rapid growth,
because the way I see it, organic
marketing is not meant for that.
Organic marketing is not designed
to give you rapid growth.
I mean, yeah, if you go viral and
stuff, maybe, but again, that doesn't
always translate into, into financial
success just 'cause you can go viral.
so organic marketing is really designed
more for like a long-term branding kind
of thing But if you're impatient like I
am and you want results like now, like in
days instead of months or years, then paid
advertising is definitely the way to go.
So if you haven't figured out
paid ads, definitely start
learning and make it a priority.
I.
Because I, it might be the thing that
really changes everything for you.
So I'm gonna be talking a lot more
about this in future episodes.
Just wanted to give a, a little update.
I haven't posted in quite a while, so
just wanted to get in touch with you and
lemme know if you have any questions.
I'll talk to you in the next one piece.
